At the October 4 Rotary meeting, longtime club member John Doherty was honored by being named to the Paul Harris Society +8.  Bob Gravino of the Ipswich Rotary Club was on hand to honor John for his many years of generous service to the Wilmington Rotary Club, the District, and Rotary International.

The Paul Harris Society recognizes Rotary members and friends of The Rotary Foundation who elect to contribute $1,000 or more each year to the Annual Fund, PolioPlus Fund, or approved global grants.

The purpose of the Paul Harris Society is to honor and thank individuals for their generous, ongoing support of The Rotary Foundation.

Rotary districts often honor new members of the Paul Harris Society by presenting them with a certificate and chevron at a district or club event.

John has been a member of the Wilmington Rotary Club since 1984, a two-time past president (1995 and 2005), and longtime treasurer.  He has also served various positions at the district level since 1995, and he and his fiance' Teri LaBella have run the annual auction and trivia night for years.

Congratulations John!
